The Loves
Together with their sons, Malcolm (13) and Jonas (11), Kat and Brendan Love have been building The Land at Hawkins Loop since 2010.
Brendan works full-time on the property to salvage, repurpose, and maintain the buildings and grounds. He is a certified Extension Master Gardener Volunteer who supports local school gardens.
Kat works as a marketing director for a national children’s health nonprofit, in addition to serving as a 4-H club leader and member of the Person County Arts Council board and Person County Cooperative Extension Advisory Leadership Council.
The Land
The Land at Hawkins Loop spans 63 acres located less than 30 minutes from Durham, Hillsborough, Roxboro in beautiful Person County, North Carolina.
The venue's fields and old growth forest are heavily populated by a wide range of birds, wildlife, and plants supported by an on-staff Certified Master Gardener.
Gently sloping pastures are dotted with modernized, century-old farmhouses and salvaged and repurposed tobacco barns.
Trails provide guests easy access for walking, biking, and observation areas with seating - including a priority block of the North Carolina Bird Atlas citizen science initiative.
